I have Windows XP and Microsoft Works word processing at home, but at work I have Word. I can't open things I have typed at home in Word, and if I send something in Works as an attachment in an email, other people can't open it. :( So I have several questions:

    1) Why have I not got Word? Is Works the new version of Word? Will everyone soon have it? What is the difference? Why are they not compatible?
    2) Is it posible to download Word on the internet? How can I get Word on my computer? Or how can I send a document to someone who only has Word so that they can open it?

    Thanks!

    Welcome to TSG! ;)

Works is the cheap or free version of Word. They are not 100% compatable. check microsoft.com for a patch that may allow you to convert the file or at least be able to read it.

GUI = Graphical User Interface. Just the way it looks.
