I am currently considering migrating from Eudora 7.0 to Outlook 2007 because Eudora is no longer supported and I am concerned about the security and tech support implications of that. I considered changing over to the new Thunderbird or Mozilla incarnation of Eudora, but I'm not up for beta testing a new product through its 1.0 upgrades

On the other hand, I have heard all the horror stories about the many security vulnerabilities of Outlook and the fact that it is frequently a target of spammers. I have also heard that the migration between these two products is quite difficult. However, I have the whole Office 2007 suite and, given that I am learning the Getting Things Done (GTD) system, I would love to have my email more tightly integrated with my calendar, to-do-list etc.

So, my questions are:
1. Would you migrate from Eudora to Outlook? and
2. What is the best way to migrate? I've look at 3rd party solutions like Aid4Mail but I'm not sure how useful they would be for the price.

Any guidance you could provide about the wisdom of doing this migration would be gratefully accepted.

I personally wouldn't leave Eudora for Outlook 2007 unless you need some functionality in Outlook that is really needed. I used Eudora for years. Just the free version. That was the very first email client I ever used and never switched from it until I went completely web based. All my email is stored online where I can access for the most part 24/7 from anywhere in the world. Have you ever thought about switching to Yahoo or Gmail?

After reading about Eudora's Penelope, I would certainly take a look at it. It certainly wouldn't hurt to try it. It will just be an addon extension to an already good existing product in Thunderbird.
