I have outgrown the default mail and calendar applications that come with Vista Home, and was planning on purchasing MS Outlook 2007.

However I wanted to find out if Outlook will recognize the .ics files if I attempt to import them? (or if a wizard will copy them and pull them into Outlook?)

I REALLY do not want to have to manually redo my entire calendar...

Sadly trying to get an answer from MS Sales Dept. was like drawing water from a Mirage...

Thanks in advance.

According to what I have read, both Windows Live Calendar and Outlook 2007 support .ics files.
However, you may want to copy your ics file and then import the copy and/or you may see if you can export your calendar in another format (I really must admit my absolute ignorance here!)

None the less that was a better response than I could get from Microsoft --- glad you found that info, I just bypassed and came straight here to ask.

Do you have a link for that info so I could read up further?

Thanks,

Here are a few places that address problems.

A bit of a summary of things mentioned:
don't have an earlier version of Outlook also installed (if you do, you will get an error message of "not a valid Internet Calendar file.");
only 2007 can import calendars with multiple events;
place your .ics file on your desktop and double-click on it there - there are reports of Outlook behaving strangely when the file is elsewhere;
