I know others have had this problem but their advice doesn't work for me. My HP mini will not connect to my wireless network although wireless network show up as fully charged and up and it says I'm connected but I can't access the internet. It has a "Acquiring network address" message that does not go away.It tells me I have an invalid IP address when I run all the conection tests thru the troubleshooter.

Press your Windows key and R together and in the box that appears, type the following, including all the spaces,
    cmd /k /netsh winsock reset
    then press Enter.

Restart the computer and if that didn't fix this, go into Control Panel>Network Connections and right click the wireless connection and go to Properties. In the centre pane, highlight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and go to Properties. Check that the buttons for "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain a DNS address automatically" are both filled. Post back if you still have a problem.

I'm requesting to have your thread moved to the NETWORKING forum.

If Saga Lout's advice doesn't work, there's some experienced people there who can help you.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------

Go to the Device Manager and expand the Network Adapters heading.

Is the wireless device listed and showing as working properly?

Can you connect to the Internet using that router if you cable to it? If not, the problem is in the router settings.

Make sure you have the latest wireless driver (from HP's web site if integrated adapter).

Disable encryption and MAC Address filtering on the router and try to connect. If successful you can probably re-enable encryption and reconnect. If unsuccessful please show ...

Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt:
(For Vista or 7 type CMD in the Search box after Start)

    Type the following command:

    IPCONFIG /ALL

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.

Would you please look in the Device Manager in the Network Adapters heading so we can determine if the wireless device is being recognized and showing as working properly?

Advise what's listed in that heading and if a question mark or exclamation mark is next to any entry.

Double-click Broadcom 802.11b/g WLAN to open its properties window, then click Driver(tab).

What's the driver version and driver date listed there?

    ------------------------------------------------------------------

Look at the sticker on that HP Mini.

Advise what the product number or service tag number is.

(This information will address the first sentence in post #7)
