Lately I've been having trouble with what I can view online. If I go to autotrader.com, search for a car and they say that a picture is attached, the picture never loads. If it says click here for more photos, I click and get nothing. I get a screen with the box where the clickable image should be, but nothing happens. I do see avatars and signatures on the message boards I am on. I also can view most pics on ebay, but I find alot that I can't view. This all started after I let windows update check for fixes and installed some. As I look to the left of my typing now, I see a box for smilies, but it's empty. I also couldn't find the tab for posting a new topic. Right now, the window appears to be trying to open a picture on this site located at http://a1444.g.akamai.net/7/1444/1104/1050523646/www.burstnet.com/gifs/ba_sv_unclesam_041603.gif...

This has really slowed my browsing as there are pictures in every webpage that won't load, but the browser sits and tries to open them. Any help????

First try using the Internet Explorer repair tool, you can find it by clicking Start/Run then type msinfo32 then when it opens click tools/IE repair tool/IE repair.

You may need your Operating System disc.

Well, it didn't work. It ran the system check and rebooted my PC. I can't even see the place that says "reply" on this site. I'm surfing blind here!!! I appreciate the help, but that wasn't it. Could it be a java related issue. I installed Nortons Firewall the same time the update was installed. I turned off the firewall, rebooted and still nothing. UUUGGGHHHH

Ok we need to take a look at whats going on.

    Download 'Hijack This!' from http://www.spywareinfo.com/files/hijackthis.zip
Unzip, and run HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".
When the scan is finished, click "Save Log", and copy and paste it in a reply.

Don't fix anything yet as most of what is in the log will be ok,
Just paste it in here and someone will have a look at it for you hopefully as I need to go out for a while.

Just an FYI. I have pretty much lost all graphics at this point. I can't see avatars, signatures, reply buttons, banners, etc. My PC is slowing down to the point where I click on it to do something, and it hangs in that process for a couple minutes. It allows me to do other tasks like open new windows, but the existing window will remain hung. I just tried opening my control panel, but it seems to be frozen, but I can open a new window and type this in. I think my PC is possessed.

I just installed Netscape and it works just fine. I guess it's an IE issue. I was running version 5.5 before I ran the update. I guess I know where the problem lies. Anybody have any suggestions.
