This question about missing cdrom drives (D and E) has been asked before by Joe2 relating to his OS Windows XP and the missing idechndr.sys file for Intel Application Accelerator.
I have the same problem (which is that when my PC boots up I cannot see or access the CDROM and CD Writer attached to the IDE interface).
The difference is that my os is windows 2K. My motherboard is the Intel D845PEBT2.

Joe Wills of this site gave the following solution for a Register change for Windows XP as follows:

My question is whether this register update solution is the same for Windows 2k as for XP?
If not please advise me what to do.

I would really appreciate your assistance .
