I am using Windows ME. I was recently was requested to up grade to MSN 5.0 Messenger which I did. I now find when I boot up, I get two error messages in succession. I don,t know if the upgrade is the reason but in any event do I need these files and how do I obtain them back?

If you're running Win ME, go to Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools and click on System Restore. Then hit next and see if there is a restrore point where it worked right, if so, high light it and restore to that point, should fix the problem.

I am using ME. When I tried to clear the check in the "System Restore Check Box", the check would come back. I could not permanently uncheck the box. How do I make it stick?

When you click on System Restore, you should have a dot in Restore My computer to an earlier time, click next. You should see a window with a 30 day calander on the left, any dates that are bold or darker then the others have restore points. If you see a date that is bold and the computer worked fine then, click the date on the left and then click a point on the right, will have something like system check point and a time, then hit next and follow the prompts.
