I recently reformatted my computer to start all over with a fresh copy of XP Pro. I ran into a number of problems, though. First, I was missing the ntldr, so I made a boot disk from this computer, then it told me I needed hal.dll. I tried downloading the floppy boot disk setup from Microsoft, but there's something goes wrong with the 3rd disk every time. THe hard drive was formatted to NTSC, but I thought I could get rid of the ntldr thing by reformatting to FAT32. Now when the computer boots up with no boot disks, it says "Missing Operating System". I've tried the "boot disk essentials" disk, but it gives me an error about copying files, and I don't know what else to do. I was up until 6 this morning trying to fix this stupid machine, but I guess I'm stupider than it is.

All I want is to get the XP setup disc going with no problems. Please Help.

All you should be doing is putting the XP CD in the drive and booting, to fully install it.
Then just follow the options.

If it does not boot from the CD, it usually means you need to go into the BIOS at power up and make sure that the CD is selected above the Hard Drive in the Boot order.

Just how are you going about trying to load Windows XP?
