How do I restore the horizontal and vertical scroll bars in Excel 2007? Also, the sheet tabs are missing

I hope etaf's solution does work. However if the problem persists it is possible that the Excel workbook you are working on is protected. Assuming you are using Excel 2007, go to Review menu and click on "Protect Workbook". On the dropdown menu see if "Protect Structure and Windows" option is checked. Trying to untick it will most probably result in an "enter password" prompt.

The workbook protection will prevent you from changing the layout of the Excel worksheet by disabling scrollbars, sheet tabs at the bottom of the screen, as well as removing maximize, minimize, restore and close buttons for the sheet (those for the sheet only, not for the Excel main window). The worksheet will just sit there, unmovable, unresizable and practically drive you crazy.

For a remedy you may want to search for "Excel protection remover" on Google. There should be a few freeware codes available. While they do not show you the actual password or remove Excel "file passwords" (those that prompt when you try to open a file) they do a commendable job on removing the workbook protection.

    Hope this helps a little...

Merry X-mas and a Happy New Year everyone...
