Hi, I have no sound on my old XP. I have bought a speaker system and realized there was no sound when I installed it. I've been to "add and remove programs" and sound doesn't exist at all ! I really don't know what to do. I hope you can help. Thankyou.

What's the model name and model number of that HP?

If you don't know for sure, advise what the product number(P/N) and/or model number(M/N) on the sticker is.

Right-click My Computer, then click Properties - Hardware - Device Manager.

Are there any entries with a yellow ? or ! or a red X next to them?

Was there sound on it before you bought the new speaker system or was this a problem from before? If you have a drivers cd to go with your computer then try using that and seeing if you can find the drivers(if you decide to switch back to the old speakers). If you prefer the newer speakers then you may have to simply type in the name and model of the speakers and search for drivers online. You can attempt to unplug and plug them back in and restart your computer as well for an easier fix that sometimes works.
