Hello,
For a long time I was wondering why I had so little space on my hard drive when I had hardly used it. Finally, today I ran SpaceSniffer and found that there was some 58gb of unknown space that it couldn't identify. So then I used TreeSize to find where all that space was and it showed me a txt file called "Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile Setup_20120621_230001924-MSI_netfx_Core_x64.msi.txt" that was about 60gb in size! Does anyone know what this file is for and why it's so large? Can I just delete it? It's in my Windows temp folder and I don't think I would have found it unless I had used TreeSize as admin because I searched for large files before and never came up with anything. Please help. Thank you.

that is an installer log file & safe to delete
also turn off installer logging to prevent a future reoccurrence

You can delete anything in temp folders and they should be cleaned out on a regular basis to get rid of extra junk like this
I use
Download Temp File Cleaner to your desktop
Open the file and close any other windows.
It will close all programs itself when run, make sure to let it run uninterrupted.
Click the Start button to begin the process. The program should not take long to finish its job
Once its finished it should reboot your machine, if not, do this yourself to ensure a complete clean

If you are using Vista or Windows 7 then right click the TFC.exe & select run as Admin to allow it to work.

Thank you, sir! I will do exactly as you say. Any idea how something like that could have got there?

something or somebody set up logging when there was a problem at sometime. it might have even been set as default wehn windows was installed, or it might have automatically switched on after a previous install failure

Thanks again. I now have 78gb of space instead of 18. Unbelievable. Thank you.
