    Hello all.

I come to you with a wierd problem I have seem to stumbled upon.

I noticed recently when trying to do a system restore I went to my System Tools folder and found the contents empty, I looked in my System32 folder in windows and found that the files were still there and intact yet no short cuts where defined for the folder, I also noticed my Communications folder in Accessories was also empty and my Entertainment folder was also incomplete had data in it but not what I would normally see.

I ran a sfc and it just disappeared, I've ran microsofts spyware beta and found no spyware, I ran nortons and found 13 viruses but none which would cause my problem, It deleted the viruses.

I am seriously stuck not knowing why this would happen even running system restore to a way earlier version didnt even solve it.

    I am open to suggestions.

    Thanks,

You could easily recreate the folders.

Navigate to c:\documents and settings\%your user name%\start menu\programs\accessories. Create a new folder called "system tools" and open it. Create shortcuts for the programs you want in there. This will replace the entires in the start menu.

As to why they are missing in the first place I have no clue.

Does your OS have a windows setup tab in add\remove programs? If so you can try reinstalling the component from there in system tools.

Yes that is odd and I'm not much help either.
I'm not familiar with xp. During the install process are you able to select the items you want to include in the different catogories of the windows set up tab? Maybe an overinstall is called for.
Maybe this is the answer. Might want to check it out before you do an overinstall, if you are considering doing one.
