modem help please

I have a 56k modem and it always puts out only 42k does anybody know why??? Please help!

don't worry thats not a problem standard lag and hold back it won't have any effect some modems don't appear lower but they are if you bought modem and you read box at bottom it will tell you it's actual internet speed and if you are using aol that is common because everyone know so to say(sorry if this is offensive) AOL SUKS i use to have it compuserve 2000 prmier is 10 times faster:D :cool: SO CHEER UP :) LOL

Ps.i need help when i goto install modem my computer freezes i have win 98 and this happens on more that one computer so it is not computer and it happens with various modems

The modem is a zoom 32 bis(or something close) if you or anyone you know can help please do i really need help(thisn is on other computer which is a kenitec) please try to help

42K is an excellent speed for dial-up. 56K is the maximum speed possible and can only occur in a perfect world. There's probably nothing wrong with your modem, your phone line, or your ISP.

pkm193, you should start a separate thread for your question. Don't tag it onto someone else's thread.
