i installed windoows xp today and downloaded what im sure is the latest drivers for my modem it says they are xp compatible.
the thing is in my device manager it says everything is working properly .

but whenever i try to test the modem or dail the internet
it says that my modem is either not working not installed
    properly or not functioning.

i meant to add that it is a smartlink 56k voice modem

I'm outta my tree here, but I'm just going to take a wild guess and speculate that the BIOS doesn't fully support XP. The log looks like the modem isn't getting power.
