modem woes

    :eek: my daughters computer appears to have 2 modems
    Intel 536EP V92
    Net Dragon 56 voice modem
    they both register as working with drivers in Windows 98 but cannot connect to internet.Keep getting no dial tone

    Often a modem has 2 connectors to connect line on the 1 & phone on the other.
    Try interchanging them.

    Maybe there really is no dial tone , to check , connect a phone on the end of the lead & pick it up to hear if you got a dial tone.

    try disable the wait for dial tone and see if it tries to ring out.
    get into devive manager get modem properties to come up,click on modem up top.then untick wait for dial tone
