monitor died

    i turned on my puter the monitor made a pop went out wont come back on,has a burning smell,i opened it up checked all the capacitors all look good what else could it be it is a gateway 22 inch w usb ports on the side

    Hi popijo, and welcome to TSG.

    It could be a lot of different components. I have seen transistors and ICs that were so overloaded, the silicon vaporized and blew a volcanic cavity in the plastic encapsulation. Some types of resistors can fail with a popping noise. FWiW, even if you located the destroyed part and replaced it, there is a very good chance the new part would pop as soon as you turned on the monitor. In many cases a visibly damaged part is only one component in a chain reaction of failures.
