I have a 17" Samsung 753DF monitor. When I maximize my windows, the whole screen is not being used. There seems to be a 1" space on the right and about 1/2" on the top. The items that should be appearing on the left are cut off. Is there any way to fix this? The monitor is about 1 and 1/2 years old. Thanks.

Try changing the refresh rates of the monitor, sometimes that does the trick..

Have you tried adjusting the screen size using the controls on the monitor?

Is the size of the items correct or do they appear bigger then usually. Try changing the Screen size to 800 x 600 or 1024 x 768 in the Display properties.
