It appears that my monitor shows colours and shades slightly differently to most people's. Whenever I see a friend's display, it seems different to mine.

I have the Adobe Gamma program in my control panel, and I have a Radeon 9250 GFX card. I know how to use both the Adobe program and the GFX card's settings to change gamma, brightness etc. - but, for example, using the Adobe Gamma wizard to alter settings is pointless when I don't know what the base settings should be in the first place - I just end up adjusting values that my GFX card sets for me - and the GFX card's defaults are very dark - not at all like most people's displays.

Trial and error is getting me nowhere fast.

So does anyone know the best way to find the best settings - ones that most people have?
