hi, yesterday morning, the pc my wife uses (which is an elderly dell) started flashing amber and the numbers 1 and 3 when she turned it on. It has a diagnostic button on the back so I went through the processes of unplugging different things inside to test if it was anything inside the pc causing an issue but to no avail. Later I tried changing the cord from the pc to the monitor but that didnt work either and still kept coming up with the same message, monitor going into power saving mode. If I dont connect the pc end of cable then it says no video input check cable. I then changed pcs and used another monitor, cable etc, this pc is an emachine running windows home 7 premium 64 bit, this worked for about 30 minutes and then the monitor did the same thing. At this stage I was concerned that it might be where my wifes pc was set up so I got on to another pc set up on the other side of mine and I knew was working, it has a linux system and not knowing much aboout linux we dont really use it but it was running perfectly. So, I proceeded to chop and change cables monitors etc to check the monitors, the other pcs were still not doing anything at that moment but the linux was ok. That was when i decided to interchange the hard drives, both my wifes pc and the linux pc have seagate hard drived so i changed them over but when i switched on the pc the same thing happened monitor going into sleep mode. I then swapped them back and now the linux pc is doing the same thing. Please help, I am at a loss and my wife is missing her pc lol

The monitor. Have you changed monitors to see if the origiial PC works with a different monitor ? I assume that you mean the numbers 3 and 1 was on a LED control panel of the monitor.

The User Manual or Dell support page will tell you what the error lights indicate is faulty.
