All right I can usually figure out what's is with my laptop though forms and doing my own research, however this one has me stumped.

Sony VAIO VGN AR230G Laptop, Windows XP Media Center home edition, SP2
    about 15 months old

The screen will stay up for hours if I leave it at the log on / Welcome screen. If I type in my password the OS comes up and the Apps start coming on about 1 - 2min after most things are up the screen will flicker black. If I move the touch pad during the flickering I can see a gray box as the icon where my mouse pointer should be. The desktop comes back for about .5 seconds then diappers. It does this for 10 - 20 seconds then goes completely black however the hard drive is still running. Every once in a while it will stay up long enough for me to type this thread. NOTE: I suspect the apoint.exe file that applies to the touchpad. When I move my figures back and forth over the touch pad I can delay or overcome this whole process however it is spotty at best.

    What I'v done so far:
-Checked for driver updates -System Restore -Check Disk -Run several scans with Symantec and Spy Bot S&D -searched the forms -HijackThis

Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2
