The company on Tuesday said it has begun installing a Web browser add-on that sends some Morpheus users on an invisible Web detour aimed at capturing data about file swappers' surfing habits.

Stream Cast claims that it is not gathering personal data.

Fair enough, but I would not want an extra step in my browsing process. This has the potential of causing problems both with IE itself and with the fact that if the redirectors site experiences problems, it could cause page not found errors or slow down your browsing to a site. This in turn could make a person think that something might be wrong with thier computer when it is something from outside.

I don't use any of them. The less holes I poke in my firewall the better.

It is sneaky of them.

I have been burned once several years ago with being hacked. I am paranoid now.

er, just uninstalled Morpheus. :(

What I've done is asked at Lavasoft if the new reference file removes the spyware and the program works. As soon as I find out, I'll post here.
