In all my years of computer experience, i keep having one annoying problem:
I turn the computer on, all fans and lights go on, the power led is on, and the hd light is on. But the monitor stays at standby. Most of the time i can just reset the cmos or flip the power switch to the motherboard, but when that doesn't work, then what.
What are the possible problems that might render this outcome?

Probably a faulty power supply or a faulty motherboard, but it could also be a BIOS setting or an add-in card or even a Windows issue.
