hey guys i just bought a second hand motherboard a while ago and i'm worried that it may have a virus. does anyone know if it's possible for a virus to be saved in the motherboard's memory and then install itself on my hard drive? does anyone know? can it save itself to the BIOS and then install it to my hard drive?

    i'm really worried about this!

thanks, any help would be great!

While it is technically possible to have a virus reside in the bios, it is highly unlikely. Years ago some mb came with a jumper to write protect the bios. Even this is no longer done since the problem just does not exist.

With a used mb, I would be much more worried that it will not work, bad caps on the board, overheated, etc, etc. I would not worry about a mb virus.
