hi,just came on board,anyone know much about this motherboard Gigabyte LGA 1150 Z97 ATX DDR3 1600 Motherboard GA-Z97X-UD3H on the lines of wether it is a good gaming one?

The "U" series from gigabyte are the ultra durable boards; the higher the number, the better quality parts. As an example a ud5 board would have better pw regulation, better capacitors, etc than a ud3 board. The UD boards are a step up from the more basic gigabyte boards.

Gigabyte or asus are the boards we generally recommend however just like anything, you can buy cheap, low end boards or very expensive boards.

One thing I do when choosing a new mb, is to check the support page for that board. If you see a LOT of bios updates in a very short amount of time, it is an indication that there is a basic design problem that the mfg attempts to fix with bios updates. Seeing updates that support new cpus, is not a problem however if you see a lot of updates that address stability problems, compatibility problems, etc, that can be a red flag.
