Recently was on sons computer just running adaware and spybot .Halfway through I tried to do something with the mouse and it was froze(so i thought).
I rebooted windows and it said no mouse installed. So I reinstalled mouse, nothin!
In system properties it says mouse is not working or has problems. However all drivers are installed and recent.I suppose the mouse could just die but I`ve never run into it. The system is ancient,300mhz with like 64 mgs of ram but we have had 0 problems .Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.....OZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

    Howdy ozzy11...

Try booting to Safe Mode ( start tapping F8 during boot, or hold down the Ctrl key ) and see if the mouse will work in safe mode...

If it does remove the mouse in safe mode via Device Manager, reboot and see if it will redetect the mouse...

Well Jedi, I did what you said to no avail,so I found an old serial mouse plugged it in an it worked so I guess my next step is to try the old mouse in my pc and see if it works. Thanks again for your help.

Could be a dead mouse, or dead PS2 port...
