I am running Windows XP SP2 Home Edition with a basic optical mouse( connected to a non-high speed 2.0 port ). I was having some problems at first with my mouse, freezing on Startup, but managed to fix that problem by plugging it into the first USB port and slowing down the acceleration software driver. Now when I print a document to my HP DeskJet 930C and after a few seconds of printing the mouse pointer freezes. The only way I can get it going again is to to a manual shutdown and cold boot. Does this have anything to do with the slow USB ports? Anty suggesstions are gladly welcome.
Control panel/ mouse/ motion/ acceleration
can affect the mouse hesitating across the screen and might have something to do with your freezing curser. Try moving it to slower acceleration and see if that helps.
The motion accelerator I was talking about was when you right click on the Desktop and then click Properties. From there I went into Settings and then Advanced and the Troubleshoot where it shows the Motion Acceleration. This is different than the one you were suggesting and as I said in my previous reply that it is set to almost none. The one you are talking about only slows down the speed of the pointer as you move it across the screen. I think that my problem isn't really how fast it moves but more as why does it stop altogether when I try to print. Again, thanks for your help.
