My mouse is operating very fast when I click on either button it clicks twice or more with each click. I have in the past reinstalled the drivers for the mouse but after a period of time it does it again. I think it is because of win98, anybody have any ideas of how to fix?

Mice aren't exactly outrageously expensive are they? Unless you insist on having one with all the bells and whistles that makes coffee as well. Borrow another mouse, confirm it works okay, then go out and treat yoursel to a new one --- preferably an optical one (but not wireless, they have their own problems). I bet it's your mouse, not Windows 98.
