So, my current computer is an MSI GP70 2PE Leopard "gaming" laptop (notice the quotes around gaming), and it's sufficed for the past 3 years with me. However, it's beginning to be the time for me when I retire this laptop as games from 2016 are much more complex than games back in 2013 in terms of graphics, memory usage and their load on the CPU/GPU.

So, I've decided to get a new gaming PC, and it does have two SATA port for SSD's, but the SSD in my laptop is an mSATA SSD, which has a different pin setup. In order to transfer my SSD from my laptop to my new PC, would I need to get an mSATA to SATA adapter, or would I need to do something different?

a mSata to Sata adaptor will work, there are loads available, the only consideration is the size of the adaptor and if it will fit into your new laptop. They are pretty inexpensive so just buy one and see how it goes.
