Not much there. But first of all if you have run msconfig and used it to uncheck (disable) ScanRegistry -- please re-enable it, it is a vital file used to backup the system registry each first boot of the day. You are going to miss it dearly. Windows may even restore a VERY OLD registry without any action by you if it does not have more recent ones. And the recovery from that can be bleak.

Instead, try unchecking these and see if it makes a difference:

    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MsnMsgr] "c:\Program Files\MSN Messenger\MsnMsgr.Exe" /background

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [CPQEASYACC] C:\Program Files\Compaq\Easy Access Button Support\cpqeadm.exe

    >> Can you point to when this problem began? (If you hadn't disabled ScanRegistry we could probably fix it with a scanreg /restore)

Are there mulltiple user accounts or profiles on the system?

This article gives you an idea of the kinds of tasks mprexe is involved in:

    http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...port/kb/articles/Q178/0/84.asp&NoWebContent=1

By the way, please click on the "details" button of that message and get the name of the other module and error address mentioned, it might not be kernel32.dll
