    Hi

I have used MS Money 2005 for some considerable time and apart from the odd problem it has been 100% stable until a couple of days ago.

After waking my laptop (a Samsung S3511 running Windows 7 Home Basic) in the morning I tried to access my data files and got the error shown in uploaded image.

I have backups of the data files on external memory sticks and usually any problem is resolved by accessing the backups.....but not in the is case as I get the same error.

The data files are OK as I can access them from my Money installation on my Desktop PC.

I have uninstalled Money and then reinstalled using the latest download from http://moneymvps.org/downloads/files...05-UK-QFE2.exe. I have tried SAFE MODE install and Administrator but same problem exists.

I am assuming it is some sort of Registry problem and would be grateful for any advice on how to identify and cure the problem.

    Thanks in anticipation.

What happens if you copy the file to the C: drive and open it from there?

Do you have all of the latest patches for Money 2005? This seems to be a common issue which has been patched.

Thanks for the reply. I only have the ResetLifetimePlanner patch, didn't know there were any others. Do you have any link(s) you can share?

I would suspect the Windows Update should pull them, assuming you have the "give updates for other Microsoft Products" selected.

I was trying to find the direct link, but it appears that support may have ended for 2005. It may be time to update.

The program is dead and if MS did what it does for other unsupported things, they've pulled all the files.
