I have just purchased a new HP laptop. Vista Home premium installed.

Uninstalled trial version of office 2007 and installed office 2003 professional.

Outlook will not stay open. Within seconds says "Microsoft office outlook has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop". I ahve unistalled it and reistalled. I runa repair. All other applications seem to open and work fine.

Initially had MAPI32 error which I found info on and that error message stopped.

Now unable to even open it. Haven't even been able to use it. Any help???

    This is what it says:

search for mapi32.dll files and rename them.
    repair office 2003
reboot the comp and then try to open outlook

Sorry for my ignorance but what would I be renaming them. I did do a rename for it when I was getting a different error. I renamed it to Msmapi32.old and this stopped the "Cannot start Outlook, MAPI32>DLL is corrupt...... "message.

Should I be renaming it something else. I don't this error anymore, it just won't open properly.

It crashes within seconds of opening.

any further help?? It is driving me crazy.

after renaming this files.. did you repair office.
if not repair office and then check outlook.
start outlook in safe mode and then check its performance.
click start=> start search => type outlook /safe to start outlook in safemode
