first post here

I have a document in mid-edit, prepared from text of one doc pasted into a template.

The last Header1 in the doc is title text only, with no following para text. When I delete it, I find there are three pages with the same Header1 (the same number) -- all three will select at the same time (which I can see by reducing the page to 45%, so there are side-by-side pages and a view of the top of the following two pages), and when I delete them, the AppendixA becomes three pages (three repeats -- it is four pages in length -- all AppendixA), with AppendixB and AppendixC following. The net result is there is some other problem.

The TOC shows only the page number of the third occurence of the repeating style and its included text. When these are printed, the first two iterations of the repeated style do not appear on the page, as they do on the monitor.

I have not found a co-worker who can solve this. I have left this and gone back to try to fix it over the past three days> The document will take more of its intended shape after the meeting next week -- I need help!

There are 3 service packs for Word 2000, the fist 2 are quite critical to fix many bugs.

In "Word - Help - About Microsoft Word" it should indicate SR2 or SR3 if it does not then apply the service packs and see if that works.

Before I found this site and posted to it, I went to Help => Detect and Repair, and it opened SR1. When I ran it, I received the message that it is not supported by our network or somesuch (I never remember what these messages say, only that it is not working) -- all of which could get me in a jam with the 'Helplful' desk here where I work -- that is when I posted.

I also called 'Helpful' desk, and the person who responded did not have a clue and is taking it to 'level 2', he said. Now it is the following morning, no response yet -- however, I will mention the SRn to the whomsoever when I hear from them -- if not soon, I will call them, as I have an emailed ticket number now.

Thank you for your response, Mr. kiwiguy, and I will let you know what the resolution of this is.
-----------------
Resolution:

I have received help with this problem. Change tracking has been 'ON' on this doc (at my engineer's explicit direction). I saved a copy of the doc under another name and accepted all changes, and the problem went away -- the styles display and print correctly, there are no unexplained gaps or repeats of information, the sky is blue, and all is right w/ the world.

Thank you for reading, and for your help.
