So I'm thinking I may need a new mother board for my MSI laptop. Didn't turn on one day, decided to take the back off. Noticed there was erosion from moisture on the motherboard. Tried cleaning it with isopropyl and plugged it back in, still nothing. But I'm kinda stuck on how I figure out what kind of motherboard I need to purchase? Tried the MSI web site, Didn't help very much on what I need.

Motherboards for laptops are very proprietary. You need the exact same motherboard OR the designated replacement. Contact msi and they can sell you the correct board.

Have you tried power cycling the pc before turning on? Motherboards have an annoying habit of storing power and draining it may be all you have to do. Remove battery (if possible) and AC power cable. Next press and hold down the power button for at least 30 seconds. This will drain motherboard of any "stuck" power. now plug in AC adapter only and try start up. if it starts you may have a problem with your battery. Next remove AC and put battery back in and try starting on battery power only. If pc still doesn't start then it is probably a motherboard issue. This simple procedure will at least let you know where problem is.
