MSIE crashes every 5-10 mins

My Internet Explorer 6.x crashes every 5-10 minutes and asks if I'd like to send a report to Microsoft. Sometimes, Microsoft's page tells me it's hardware such as BIOS or memory. Other times, I get nothing. Occasionally, I get blue screens with stop errors. They vary so much that I cannot pinpoint the actual problem.

Steps I've taken to correct this:

    - I ran Microsoft's memory diagnostic test. RAM is fine.

    - I reformatted the Windows partition and reinstalled Windows and SP1/SP2 along
with the myriad of security updates.

    - Did a virus scan and spyware scan (using SpyBot S&D and AdAware).

    - Still have same problem.

My system: Custom built P4 2.4ghz with 1 gig of RAM, 2-40 gig HD's with plenty of space left (several Gigs!), Soundblaster Live Card, ATI Radeon 9600 card, Windows XP Home (legit) with SP1 & SP2.

Questions: Do you think it is indeed hardware? Could it be a nasty, undetectable virus?

Other issue: My scanner stopped working on this machine. Windows couldn't detect it, so I had to plug it into another computer. Could my power supply be causing all these problems? What about my BIOS?

Any advice would be **greatly** appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
