    Hello:

Please help the girl who has had 5 hrs sleep over two days, when I should have had what 14 and should not be touching a computer.

I do not know if I did something or not?

Went to Start, Programs to launch Windows Live Messenger and was not paying attention and pressed someting on the list called MSN. An MSN Installer launched and Spy Sweeper blocked it and told me to remove its remnants and then a Installer Window opened and a dialog box appeared saying the Active X was not safe so parts of the page would not load. Now there is a Microsoft butterfly on my desktop that is labelled MSN Installer.

The thing is, when I went back to Start, Programs to see what on earth I pressed, whatever it was is not listed there anymore. I know it said MSN and in my tired state I pressed it thinking it was Windows Live Messenger.

Is it / was it just some MSFT thing that I need not worry about?

    Hello:

I ?think I may have found something to do with the MSN installer. ???Maybe???

I just opened up my Network Connections and there is something there that has never been there before. There is something called Connection Manager and under it something called simply MSN which identifies on the left-side panel as AC97 Data Fax SoftModem with SmartCP 455555555. I never knowingly installed this unless it happened from the MSN mistake I mentioned above. Is this a genuine Microsoft thing or something bad. Like I said before, I never noticed the MSN listing on my [Start] [All Programs] list until I accidently pressed it instead of Messenger and it has been gone since I pressed it.

The AC97 Data Fax SoftModem with SmartCP 455555555 is listed as disabled and firewalled. I do not know whether it is safe to turn it on as when I googled it I get http://www.soft32.com/Download/Free/AC97_Data_Fax_SoftModem_with_SmartCP/4-184411-1.html. This is not MSN and seems to be freeware. I would not have chosen this thing as I do not know what it is. Is it some sort of fax modem or something bad. I have always already been able to fax from my computer. What do I do?
    Thanks
    Ginger Soliel
