I had just contracted a new virus from msn and was lookin' for help. The virus won't let me open msconfig or regedit commands, and on the net if you search for anything with "registry" it automatically closes the program. Virus detectors work, but when using programs like hijackthis they need to be run from safe mode.

Even when opening the hijackthis file under program files it closes the window. The following report from hijack this was run in safe mode:

    Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1
Scan saved at 3:03:06 PM, on 1/27/2007
Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600)
    MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180)

Also, I was able to run AVG normally, and it finds only one virus called hosts, located at C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

Finally, this virus also created a log .txt file going through what had happened, but it is such a large file I can't post it on here without flooding.

Thanks for the help in Advance.
