    Hi,

Need a little help. I am getting this error when i open Adobe PhotoShop CS2. MSVCP71.dll is not a valid windows image.

Can anyone help with this? Its not hindering any computer performance, it just keeps popping up when i open the software.

    Thanks,

Ok, that was a great idea! It got rid of that error, which was bugging me and produced another one. I checked the site for this file too, but to no avail.

    C:\Program Files\Commonfiles\Adobe\Updater\boost_thread-vc71-mt-1_31.dll

I have no clue. Could i delete the file if its corrupted, and reboot. Would windows automatically re-install the missing file?

    HomeSight:confused:

Post a log for me, maybe I can see where it's coming from.

Click here to download HJTsetup.exe: http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/files/HJTSetup.exe
    Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.

Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Addition Tasks dialogue.
Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Reboot to Safe Mode by tapping the F8 key while the machine is booting up and empty this folder:
    C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\

Reboot and see if you still get the same error.

Oh, sorry that is by default a hidden folder.

Open Windows Explorer. Go to Tools, Folder Options and click on the View tab.
Make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is checked.
Also uncheck "Hide protected operating system files".
Now click "Apply to all folders", Click "Apply" then "OK"

Now you should be able to see the folder.

Ok, so heres where i went to...

    C:\DocumentandSettings\Owner\Local Settings\Temp.

There are 1500 files in their, but when i click delete. I get access denied... Btw, this folder is showing up as shared.

    Thanks,

Are you logging in as Administrator or does your account have administrator rights?

It is normal for some files to not get removed as they will be active.

Sort by date and select all files that do not have today's date and delete those.

You can use this program if you want...

    Download Cleanup from Here
A window will open and choose SAVE, then DESKTOP as the destination.
On your Desktop, click on Cleanup40.exe icon.
Then, click RUN and place a checkmark beside "I Agree"
Then click NEXT followed by START and OK.
A window will appear with many choices, keep all the defaults as set when the Slide Bar to the left is set to Standard Quality.
    Click OK
    DO NOT RUN IT YET!

    Restart in safe mode.

    Run Cleanup:
Click on the "Cleanup" button and let it run.
Once itÂ’s done, close the program.

Restart back into Windows normally now.

Ok, i've done as asked and still getting the error. The problem is that i dont have the original disk that my adobe software was installed from.

Once again the error is C:\Program files\commonfiles\adobe\updater\boost_thread-vc71-mt-1_31.dll.

Thanks for the help so far...
