I downloaded a few webcam chat programs including ooVoo, unchecked all the ask toolbar options, but still ended up with it. Windows installer did not detect it and it had to be removed with Revo uninstaller. Revo found Ask toolbar with a "V" icon, there were 2 other entries with the same "V" icon: ooVoo, and ooVoo ask powered toolbar. I removed all 3 of these, and throughout the removal WinPatrol kept alerting me that ask was trying to run every time at startup.

Funny thing is WinPatrol didn't give me an official name of what is trying to startup or an icon, also no description, version, company name or ANY info except the file path: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Ask.com\Updater\Updater.exe" and it gets EVEN STRANGER: that file path does not exist! There is no Ask.com folder in program files!

WTF?? Looks like I'm going to have to do a system restore, but if anyone has any last minute ideas I'm open to hear them.

[IMG] Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
    • Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
    • Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista, 7, or 8; instead of double-clicking, right-mouse click JRT.exe and select "Run as Administrator".
    • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
    • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
    • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
    • Post the contents of JRT.txt into your next message.
