hi, everyone. thanks for this opportunity. i have windows xp. lately, when i go from one page to another stuff that has no pertinance comes up. was checking mail, when i opened MOST of the pages, i got a google home page that has nothing to do with my mail. sometimes someone wants to sell me something. dang thats aggravating. sometimes i can't get rid of those pages unless i completely start over. i have a google pop-up blocker but that doesn't seem to work all the time. and SLOW??? i'm slow but i'm in a wheel chair. this get so slow that i just shrivel up with resignation and shut the whole thing off. i just bought the tower about 2 weeks ago, and im about ready to take it back. thanx for your time and help.

    http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=item5
Scroll down to the download section

    Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.

Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Addition Tasks dialogue.
Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

    Open the log in notepad

    EDIT - SELECT ALL
    EDIT - COPY

Then come to this message, and in the quick reply box click in the white space and then EDIT - PASTE

Edit is in the menu bars of IE and Notepad

Just a side note: You could exchange your computer for a new one every week and the problem will come back every week until you learn what you are doing wrong. You've got adware/spyware and/or other malwares in your computer due to unsafe browsing habits and/or opening infected mail or clicking on unsafe links in e-mails.

In other words, it isn't the computer's fault.

The best protection against this is a paranoid user; but, no amount of changing habits at this point will fix the current problem. You may have to restore the computer to its original factory state.

When you go to CNN.com or WarnerBrothers.com or GeneralMotors.com, you know where you are and that you can most likely trust any link on their page; but, when you go to xyzabc.com (site of unknown origin and/or unknown for safety), you have to ask yourself if a link you click on there is going to embed malware into your system--and it can happen in an instant without even a clue.

Stay on the main streets and away from the dark alleys and you stand a better chance of not getting mugged.

    Your computer has been mugged.

Please download FixWareout from one of these mirrors:
    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/lonny/Fixwareout.exe
    http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe

Note: You must have an active Internet connection when running this fix, in order to download the Brute Force Uninstaller (BFU).

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish.
The fix will begin; follow the prompts. If your firewall gives an alert, (because this tool will download an additional file from the internet), please don't let your firewall block it, but allow it instead.
Then you will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.
Once the desktop loads please post the text that will open (report.txt) and a new Hijackthis log.
    =====================================
Fix these with HiJackThis – mark them, close IE, click fix checked

Fix these with HiJackThis – mark them, close IE, click fix checked

    START – RUN – type in %temp% - OK - Edit – Select all – File – Delete

Delete everything in the C:\Windows\Temp folder or C:\WINNT\temp

Not all temp files will delete and that is normal
    Empty the recycle bin

    How are things now??????

Please give feedback on what worked/didn’t work and the current status of your system
