"Stopped working" can cover a lot of ground. Does it still appear as "OK" in Device Manager? Does it still spin up when you insert a CD or DVD? What exactly are the symptoms (and error messages if any)?

I insert the cd/dvd into the player, I see a green flickering light, it sounds as if it will begin working, then nothing happens.

And when you try to access it with Windows Explorer?

Are you inserting an original or copied disc?

Have you tried a different disc?
