my computer is messed up. i need help

    it keeps restarting itself. its pretty random, sometimes it wont do it all day or it will do it so often that i cant even log onto windows without it happening. it has been doing this for about a month. i have a virus scaner program and it is not detecting any viruses

    It's probably not a virus.

    Try reseating the memory in the system. The only thing I can think of that would be causing these symptoms is memory and hard drive. Run any hardware diagnostics you have for the system. Try reseating the hard drive AND the memory (both sticks if you have 2).

    Start> Run> type: sysdm.cpl then OK.
    Click on Advanced tab, under Startup and Recovery: click Settings button.
    Under System failure: uncheck Automatically restart then OK. You should now receive an error message instead of a restart.
