Say no more. I often have days (or months) like that.

Run Hijack This and click Open the Misc Tools section.
Click Open Uninstall Manager > Save list and save the log to your Desktop.
A list of programs will open in Notepad. Post the contents of this log.

I think a good start would be to trim down the amount of programs running at Startup.

We will likely need to disable SpyBot's TeaTimer in order to do this.

    Are you familiar with msconfig?

I've used msconfig before. I took a look and there's a ton of programs running. Can you let me know which ones I need to keep and which ones I can disable?

Click on the Vista start icon in the bottom left corner of your screen.
Type MSCONFIG in the search box and then either press enter on your keyboard or double click on the MSCONFIG program that appears in the search results.
(To prevent you from accidentally making changes that could destabilize your computer, Vista asks you for permission to continue. You may see a box asking you to key in your computer's administrator user name and password.)
Or, if you're already logged into Vista as an administrator, you may see a box asking you if you would like to continue.
Either way, follow the on-screen prompts to give Vista permission to continue.
Once you have successfully passed through Microsoft's User Account Control roadblock, Vista will launch Microsoft's System Configuration Utility. Click on the Startup tab.
This takes you to a page with a list of "startup items." Startup items are programs that are automatically loaded every time you turn on your computer. Some startup programs are absolutely necessary, others are simply a waste of RAM.
Remember that we are only disabling these (not removing anything) so you can still turn these back on if you wish.
The following entries can be UNCHECKED:

    [eDataSecurity Loader] C:\Program Files\Acer\Empowering Technology\eDataSecurity\x86\eDSloader.exe

    [BkupTray] "C:\Program Files\NewTech Infosystems\NTI Backup Now 5\BkupTray.exe"

Note: Only uncheck this one if you don't have certain back ups scheduled.

    [LManager] C:\PROGRA~1\LAUNCH~1\LManager.exe

    [Google Desktop Search] "C:\Program Files\Google\Google Desktop Search\GoogleDesktop.exe" /startup

    [ePower_DMC] C:\Program Files\Acer\Empowering Technology\ePower\ePower_DMC.exe

    [Acer Assist Launcher] C:\Program Files\Acer\Acer Assist\launcher.exe

A message will pop up telling you that you must restart your computer before these changes will take effect. Click on "Restart" and your computer will automatically reboot.
(And if you ever want to turn on any of the startup items you disabled with MSCONFIG, just run MSCONFIG again.)

I made the changes and it definitely feels like it's starting up faster but it still seems to be hanging when I use it. Any other suggestions?

I noticed that you didn't tell me to disable to spybot or itunes, is there a reason for that?

Since SpyBot is a protection program, I chose to leave that.

I left iTunes because I've noticed when you disable it, it can cause problems with the program. Not all the time, but sometimes.

Do you do routine maintenance on the machine? Such as a Disk Cleanup and Disk Defrag?
