My computer making noises...

    Since about a week ago, my computer has been making a grunting noise lasting about 1 to 2 seconds. happens randomly. I would be doing absolutly nothing and it still makes this noise. Do you think there is something wrong? If you don't understand tell me or ask me, and i will try to make it so you can understand me.

    Howdy Shark0...

    Could be a fan, but sounds more like a failing hard drive, what you can do is goto the hard drive manufactures site, and download the diagnostics, then run them, and see what it shows...

    how would I find out what kind of hard drive I have?

    About the easisest way is look in Device Manager under Disk Drives...

    Or you can go here Aida32, download and install Aida32, it should tell you what HD you have, if not you will have to take the case off and look at the hard drive to see what you have...

    Its a WDC which im pretty sure is a western digital

    Well you can go here Western DigitalDownload the Data Lifegaurd tools I've never tried the one for Windows, so you can make your choice there...

    Well..like I said I've never tried the one for Windows, so I don't know how well it works, download the v10, should be the first choice, after download double click on the file, and let it create the floppy, then boot with the floppy...
