Okay my computer is an e-machines windows vista and I've had it for maybe 2-3 years now (cant remember exactly sorry). I don't know what I did but now for some odd reason it won't download anything. At all, period. I have no clue what to do. I mainly use mozilla firefox for surfing and internet explorer for downloads (I had the same problem with mozilla alone before). I don't know if this is the right place to post this but most of what I download is games. If anyone has any idea what's wrong or what to do please help me. i am very greatful. The download box comes up. You know Run, Save, Cancel. I click run and it apparently downloads but it cannot be found any where at all. Personally I don't think it finishes but I'm no expert

Create a folder right on your desktop and name it Downloads or My Downloads or whatever name you want.

When you get ready to download a file, choose "Save" and then direct it to be saved in that desktop folder.

When the download completes, the file will be saved inside that folder.

You can then install the file from there.

    --------------------------------------------------------------

Never ever choose "Run" unless you're specifically advised to do so.

In FF, the download option is controlled in the Tools/Options/Downloads Dialog box.
Check the box to "Show the downloads window...", then choose a location by using the "Browse" option.
The Desktop/Downloads choice mentioned by flavallee is fine.

Start again. This is basic computing 101, so you're doing something wrong. It's not hard, so take your time.

What folder have you designated for your downloads? What files are in this folder?
What happens when you click a link to download?

Double-click the exe file and it should run.
The Cnet.com file doesn't sound right.
What location is indicated in Tools/Options/Downloads? (Save file to). Be sure the "close it..." button isn't checked. Click the Browse button to get the full path.
