Hi Guys - help urgently needed

I was working on my computer when suddenly the display disorted.
The computer display looks like it does in safe mode - large icons - images look solarised - it works normally apart from the above - have I got a hardware fault? Is there anyway I can check this out?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Jim and welcome :)

    Which OS are you using?

If you go to Control Panel - Display - Settings is the screen area set to greater than 640 x480? If not can you change it?
Are the colours set to greater than 16? If not can you change this?

If you go to Control Panel - System - Device manager - Is there a yellow exclamation mark next to Display Adapter?

You may have to reinstall the software drivers for the display adapter, preferably any updated ones.

Click the + in Display in the Device Manager. What is it showing for the type of display adapter?

I'll ask again. What version of Windows are you using?

The current display adapter software drivers for the Intel 82810 Graphics Controller is version 6.7(4.13.01.3196) for Windows 98SE and Windows ME and is version 6.7(6.13.01.3004) for Windows XP. They can be downloaded from here. They appear to be newer versions than what appears in the DriverGuide.com list.

Select your version of Windows, then select the file with the .EXE extension. Download and save the file somewhere. Close all browser windows and turn off your antivirus program. Double-click the file to start the install process. You should be prompted to reboot afterwards.
