Out of nowhere, does my computer tell me I have no disc space.

My C: drive tells me I have 0 bytes out of my 450 GB

and my D: drive tells me i have 300 KB out of 9.8 GB.

Im in a rut here, because my antivirus programs will not run on such low disc space.

I cannot download programs because I have low disc space

and lastly, I cant uninstall various programs with low disc space.

I suspect a virus is at work, but like I said above, I cant check.

I removed all my temporary files, my recycle bin, ect.

But I don't know what to do anymore. Ive ventured all across google to see people having similar problems to mine.

What should I do?

Do you have ZoneAlarm by chance?

If you can get this to run from a USB drive:

Getting Hijackthis and installing it correctly

  • Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
  • Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
  • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
  • Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Addition Tasks dialogue.
  • Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
  • Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
  • At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
  • Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
  • Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
  • Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
  • Paste the log in your next reply.
  • If you haven't already posted then start a new thread in the security forum
  • DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Correct, but can you use another computer or save the file to a USB drive?

I still have the problem no matter how much I remove; my drives memory just goes down to 0.

Why do you have Avast and Norton installed? One of them needs to go. if you have a trial of Norton uninstall it and use the Norton Removal Tool: http://www.symantec.com/norton/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20091202133639EN If you have a full version of Norton then remove Avast!.

You have a lot of toolbars and I see Relevant Knowledge which I believe is adware.

I'll have an expert take a look at the log.

You can in the meantime do a search for any large files. See here for advanced search: http://www.askdavetaylor.com/search_for_files_in_windows_vista.html
Change the "Location" to "Everywhere" and then specify the size, set the size to large files, several MB's in size -1024KB per MB, so for example 10,000KB and see what it comes up with.

Nothing much else is showing but nowadays we don't see that much in HijackThis logs.

Why haven't you gotten at least SP1 or even SP2?

Have you tried to do a system restore to just before this happened?
