I have a turtle beach recon 50x headset and for some reason when I'm talking to someone using the headset it plays the audio of whatever I'm doing on my phone or Xbox to the person I'm chatting with. is there any way to stop this?

That is a function of Stereo Mix or "What you Hear" (depends on the sound card brand). Simply disable it in the audio config.

In whatever audio control panel you have on your system. Most systems have an audio icon in the system tray (by the clock) name for whatever audio chipset your computer is using. Open the audio control panel and review the audio config.
