    Hi,

It would help if you could outline your problem also :)

Sorry 1069 - actually the old PC runs quite well but I have this total addiction to forever trying to tweak it up better and faster!
One problem I seem to encounter is that it is painfully slow to open big applications like Microsoft Outlook, Word etc.
With 1 Gig of RAM, I thought even my old 2.6 CPU would do better than this!
When I am am doing a search, printing or other high resource operations, it virtually becomes a "one application only" machine. Task Manager tells me that "system idle process " is still well in exess of 75%. performance is as low as 2-10% amd there is no major memory hog!
If I try to rush it and open another application,. everything freezes and after about fve minutes, it seems to work it all out and retuyrn to normal.
It is a clean install XP Pro on a new HDD and I am a fanatical scandisk and defrag guy plus I have all the u-beaut reg/system cleaners (Regcure) that keeps everything nice and neat.
    Thanks for reply

You have 45 processes in the startup....I would go through them and see what you really need and trim the list down.
