Click Start.

Open My Computer.

Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.

Select the View Tab.

Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.

Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.

Click Yes to confirm.

Click OK.

Put a tick by each of the following and have hijack fix them after closing any open windows ....

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [checkrun] C:\windows\system32\elitemoj32.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KavSvc] C:\WINDOWS\system32\rlkzup.exe reg_run
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [vidctrl] C:\WINDOWS\system32\vidctrl\vidctrl.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AutoUpdater] "C:\Program Files\AutoUpdate\AutoUpdate.exe"
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MSMSGS] "C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe" /background

Also find and delete the following in SAFE MODE ....

C:\WINDOWS\system32\rlkzup.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\vidctrl\vidctrl.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\lprurity.exe

First of all thanks for the fast reply.

After l unchecked the hide protected operating system files (recommended) option, a new window opens up and l click yes to confirm.

Then another window opens and l click OK.

After clicking OK the screen goes bact to the original screen where l selected the tools menu. I tried this several times.

Also when l started my computer today before AOL started a window appeared;

Error loading
C:\windows\cfgmgr52.dll

l clicked OK and AOL loaded.

Thanks

Also find and delete the following in "safe mode"? I never heard this term, what is it and how do l do this?

Thanks

My biggest problem is that my friends send me all kinds of junk, funny but junk.

I will have to cut this out.

Thanks

Again

To use the F8 key to start Windows XP in Safe mode
Restart the computer.
Some computers have a progress bar that refers to the word BIOS. Others may not let you know what is happening.
As soon as the BIOS loads, begin tapping the F8 key on your keyboard. Do so until the Windows Advanced Options menu appears.
If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. If this happens, restart the computer and try again.
Using the arrow keys on the keyboard, select Safe mode and then press Enter.

Then search for, find and delete the following items ....

C:\WINDOWS\system32\rlkzup.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\vidctrl\vidctrl.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\lprurity.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\logesk32.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system\nggnefcu.exe
