Hi.. I posted this message a week or so ago, and someone advised me to run hijackthis. So I did and posted the log, but I haven't gotten a reply in a while.. So I'm posting it here again, along with the original message. If you could take a look at it, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
I live in a college dorm so I use their internet. And about two months ago, I was kicked off the network for having a virus. So I installed McAfee's Virus Scan Enterprise 7.0 and it found some viruses and got rid of them. So I got back on the net, but about a week ago I found that the On-Access Virus Scan kept finding a virus named "sysconf.exe" in my "shared folder" So I opened up the folder and found a GIF file and it said something like "congratulations, you have been hacked by syd" There was another file with it (I don't remember the name of it), so I deleted that file and the GIF file. Ever since then, or maybe it's then I started noticing, my computer has been real slow. And I would press Ctrl, Alt, and Delete to close any not-responding programs, and I found that a file named "explored.exe" would be taking up most of my memory. So anyways, I figured maybe my computer is being hacked, and so I installed Zonealarm 4.5.538. And it has asked me several times whether it should let "explored.exe" access the internet and I would say no. And one time I did say yes, it slowed down my computer again. So since then I have disabled it from connecting to the internet. Also when it was able to connect to the internet, the file would disable the On-Access virus scan (I'm assuming it was the file because once I stopped it from accessing the internet, this stopped happening) Anyways, ever since I installed Zonealarm, everything's been okay.. Except for my messenger programs (I use MSN Messenger and AIM) they get disconnected every 4-5 minutes, and so I can't carry on conversations. Do you know how to fix it? And I still think I have a virus or I'm being hacked.. How can I check? Oh and I installed the latest version of AVG Anti-Virus program because someone on here recommended it and it didn't find any viruses on my computer. And lastly, my on-access virusscan (from McAfee) keeps finding a file named "hosts" (C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts) whose related program is "explored.exe" This is a lot longer that I intended it to be, but thanks for bearing with me. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you very much.
